Launch time.

Technology, Human Systems, Environment. I soft launched the new version of thishollow.earth today. New theme, new content, new streams, same me.

It’s far from finished. It’s full of errors and mistakes and omissions. But it’s something, it’s good enough and it’s live. This is part of the bootstrapping ThisHollowEarth. After bootstrapping, I will start building the products, setup a Go To Market (GTM) plan, focus on branding, visuals and design, do optimisation / tweaking / security / legal / finance and then rinse and repeat.

You can follow everything I do, build, decide in NEAR REAL TIME via the tech notes stream for tech, tools & opinions and this blog. It will be great fun.

Let me know what you think. Any feedback is welcome.

An evening stroll
I was walking my dog the other day when we ran into the fly

“Good morning fly”, I said
“Hmmm”, the fly said

“Hmmm?”, I said, “Something wrong?”
“I’m tired”, the fly said, “I flew far, fetched fumbling for fakes”
“That doesn’t make sense fly”, I said

“I’m tired”, the fly said

Cynicism
I read the "MIT PRESS ON ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE SERIES" book on Cynicism which was very disappointing. I like other books in the series but this one is not good. Nevertheless, there was this one passage that I like a lot:

Everyday existence, as its critics claim, is now relentlessly exploited by capital. Workers and educational subjects are expected to take upon themselves a stylization of life that will render them permanently adaptable to the whims of the marketplace. Individual lives are framed increasingly in this way, folded back on themselves, as lives of self-stylization vis-a-vis the cultivation of [potentially counter-]cultural taste, body language and so forth. When social problems are confronted, uncomfortable political questions are suspended “in the name of ethical immediacy.” For instance, since the first Live Aid concert in 1985, a specific form of “ideological blackmail” has taken root, insisting that “caring individuals” can end famine directly by collectively reaching in their pockets, without the need for systemic reorganization

In other words: virtue signalling. I hate virtue signalling.
